Thanksgiving is a joyful celebration that invites us all to spread our affection and gratitude while sharing delicious meals with our loved ones. And, when we say food, we say BBQ! So, this year we´re turning Thanksgiving into Thanksgrilling and sharing our favorite recipes with you.
If you want to give your special dinner a unique twist while making prep easier, continue reading this article and learn how to make a full feast on the grill.
Pellet Smoked Turkey
Can you imagine Thanksgiving without indulging in a tasty cut of grilled turkey? Neither can we! But this year, instead of cooking it in the oven, we´re making the most delicious smoked turkey. If you don't have one already, it's time to upgrade your grill with the premium but inexpensive Carpathen Z-Smoker Pellet Tube. It will take your culinary experiences to the next level!
Back to our flavorsome turkey, cooked low and slow until it becomes juicy and tender. You will need a whole turkey thawed, with neck and giblets removed, salt, and water.
The first step is the brine. Combine the water and salt in a container, making sure the salt has dissolved. Clean the turkey, remove everything it has inside, and submerge it in the brine solution. Let it soak overnight.
Once your turkey is ready for cooking, you can start your pellet grill. While the grill is heating, take the turkey out of the brine and pat it with a paper towel. Transfer it to the grill and smoke for two hours at 180°F, before raising the heat to 325°F. We advise you to let the turkey cook until the breast meat reaches 165°F. Once ready, let it rest, and its juices settle for 10-15 minutes. Delicious!
Grilled Potatoes
Simple food is always the most delicious, and grilled potatoes make a dish few people don't enjoy. We know none yet.
You will only need Russet potatoes, cooking foil, salt, and olive oil. Clean the potatoes, sprinkle the salt, and rub them with olive oil. Then, using a fork, pierce the potatoes on each side. This allows the heat to escape while they are cooking.
Once the prep is finished, wrap the potatoes in foil. To allow the smoke flavor to properly penetrate while cooking, pierce the potato a few times after you wrapped it. Time to put the potatoes on the grill and let them cook for an hour over medium heat. Don´t forget to turn them, occasionally!
Flame Roasted Brussels Sprouts
For Brussels sprouts enthusiasts, we have a special Thanksgiving recipe with grilled fennel and crispy Serrano ham. This combination will amaze you with the perfect balance of flavors and might even impress the little ones. You´ll need trimmed and halved Brussels sprouts, sliced Serrano ham, thinly chopped fennel, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, as well as pepper and salt to taste.
Begin with preparing the grill for medium-high heat cooking. Then, put a vegetable grilling basket on it because you´ll need it preheated. Toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, place them in the vegetable basket, and stir occasionally. After 10 minutes, toss the fennel with olive oil and add it to the basket together with Serrano ham, letting them cook for a few more minutes. Once the ham turns crispy and the fennel soft, remove the mix from the grill, add salt and pepper to taste, and indulge!
Cherry Cobbler on the Grill
No dinner party is complete without a delicious dessert, especially on a festive occasion like Thanksgiving. However, since we turned it into Thanksgrilling, we suggest you consider adding a fun and tasty s'mores-making session. If you have a good set of kid-friendly roasting sticks, you can even let them make their own dessert.
But, in case you want to add a fancier dessert, you could bring a summer vibe to the table with our grilled cherry cobbler. You´ll need thawed and drained frozen pitted dark sweet cherries, lemon juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, unsalted, softened butter, old-fashioned rolled oats, and white whole-wheat flour.
Start coating a cast-iron skillet with cooking spray and preheat the grill to medium (350-400°F). In a large bowl, combine the cherries, lemon juice, and granulated sugar, tossing well to coat before transferring to the pan.
Combine the rest of the ingredients in a bowl, stirring until the mix holds together loosely. Then, sprinkle it over the cherries and cover the pan with foil. Place it on the grill and let it cook with the lid closed. After 20 minutes, remove the foil, letting it cook for 10 more minutes until the cobbler is golden and bubbly. Bon Appetit and Happy Thanksgiving!
