Installation Steps
IMPORTANT steps to take before installation
Before installing, please make sure you have some form of filtration and pressure regulation installed on your water source.
Why is it important:
Filtration: without filtration, the couplings and emitters have small openings that can clog with debris or sediments.
Pressure regulation: pressure over 45 PSI can blow off the fittings and damage the micro irrigation system over time. You can find a wide variety of inexpensive pressure regulators on Amazon.com or at your local home improvement store.
Not all the included pieces need to be installed in one system. In order to offer you a fully customisable irrigation system, we included many more than enough pieces of each kind. Keep the leftover items like spare parts.
Naturally, the water pressure in the system drops a bit with every emitter installed. Depending on your water source pressure, you may install a greater or lesser number of emitters until the limit is reached and the water will stop flowing from some of the emitters. Normally, with a water pressure of 45 PSI, a system with a total number of either 20 360 Stream Emitters OR 12 Vortex Emitters should function without problems. Please feel free to experiment and create your unique combination of emitters in the system.
Technical Information:
The emitters are designed to work with a pressure of between 15 and 45 PSI. Maximum water volume delivered by a single emitter:
360 Stream
- 60 Gallons/hour at 45 PSI
- 55 Gallons/hour at 35 PSI
- 45 Gallons/hour at 20 PSI
Vortex
- 45 Gallons/hour at 45 PSI
- 35 Gallons/hour at 35 PSI
- 30 Gallons/hour at 20 PSI
Both emitter types have an adjustable range up to a diameter of 3-4 feet.
The 360 Stream Emitter delivers water in an array of streams, being ideal for shrubs and trees. The Vortex Emitter evenly covers a full circle, making it perfect for a landscape or garden.
STEP 2 — Position the tubing route
- Unroll 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A) along the area you want to irrigate.
- Follow the mounting surface (pergola / terrace / balcony rail). Leave extra length at the end for final adjustment.
- NOTE: Do not cut 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A) yet.
STEP 3 — Cut tubing and install Tee fittings
- NOTE: The kit includes 10 pcs of 1/4 Tee QC (B). Do not cut 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A) in more than 10 points (max. 10 emitter locations).
- Mark the positions where you want the emitters.
- Recommended spacing between emitters: 11–23 inches.
- At each marked position:
- Cut 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A) clean and straight.
- Insert 1/4 Tee QC (B) between the two cut ends of 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A).
- Push 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A) fully into 1/4 Tee QC (B) until firmly seated.
- Secure the tubing and fittings:
- Use 1/4 Drip Tubing Nails (K) to fix 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A) along the route.
- Use Zip Tie (J) to fasten 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A) and 1/4 Tee QC (B) to the structure where needed.
STEP 4 — Close the end of the line
- After installing the last 1/4 Tee QC (B), close the open outlet with 1/4 End Plug (E).
- Insert 1/4 End Plug (E) into the unused QC outlet of the last fitting.
- IMPORTANT:
- Do not insert 1/4 End Plug (E) into the branch intended for 1/4 - QC Goose Neck Emitter, 9cm (D).
- Do not push 1/4 End Plug (E) into 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A).
STEP 5 — Install the goose neck emitters
- Insert 1/4 - QC Goose Neck Emitter (D) into each 1/4 Tee QC (B).
- Push 1/4 - QC Goose Neck Emitter (D) until fully seated.
- Aim 1/4 - QC Goose Neck Emitter (D) toward the desired area (spray into the air / toward plants).
STEP 6 — Use optional fittings
- Make corners with 1/4 Elbow QC (G)
Use 1/4 Elbow QC (G) where the route needs a 90° turn. - Push 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A) fully into 1/4 Elbow QC (G) ports.
- Add a shut-off / flow control valve with 1/4 to 1/4 Coupler with Valve QC (C):
- Cut 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A) at the location where you want control.
- Insert 1/4 to 1/4 Coupler with Valve QC (C) inline between the two cut ends.
- Use 1/4 to 1/4 Coupler with Valve QC (C) to reduce flow or shut off a section.
- Remove an emitter later (use spare 1/4 End Plug (E)):
- Pull 1/4 - QC Goose Neck Emitter (D) out of 1/4 Tee QC (B).
- Insert 1/4 End Plug (E) into that Tee branch to seal it.
STEP 7 — Test the system
- Turn on the water slowly.
- Check all connections for leaks.
- Adjust the direction of each 1/4 - QC -Goose Neck Emitter (D).
- If spray is weak:
- Turn off water.
- Remove and clean filter screen (F).
- Turn water on and test again.
