Installation Steps
IMPORTANT steps to take before installation
Before installing, please make sure you have some form of filtration and pressure regulation installed on your water source.
Why is it important:
Filtration: without filtration, the couplings and emitters have small openings that can clog with debris or sediments.
Pressure regulation: pressure over 45 PSI can blow off the fittings and damage the micro irrigation system over time. You can find a wide variety of inexpensive pressure regulators on Amazon.com or at your local home improvement store.
Not all the included pieces need to be installed in one system. In order to offer you a fully customisable irrigation system, we included many more than enough pieces of each kind. Keep the leftover items like spare parts.
Naturally, the water pressure in the system drops a bit with every emitter installed. Depending on your water source pressure, you may install a greater or lesser number of emitters until the limit is reached and the water will stop flowing from some of the emitters. Normally, with a water pressure of 45 PSI, a system with a total number of either 20 360 Stream Emitters OR 12 Vortex Emitters should function without problems. Please feel free to experiment and create your unique combination of emitters in the system.
Technical Information:
The emitters are designed to work with a pressure of between 15 and 45 PSI. Maximum water volume delivered by a single emitter:
360 Stream
- 60 Gallons/hour at 45 PSI
- 55 Gallons/hour at 35 PSI
- 45 Gallons/hour at 20 PSI
Vortex
- 45 Gallons/hour at 45 PSI
- 35 Gallons/hour at 35 PSI
- 30 Gallons/hour at 20 PSI
Both emitter types have an adjustable range up to a diameter of 3-4 feet.
The 360 Stream Emitter delivers water in an array of streams, being ideal for shrubs and trees. The Vortex Emitter evenly covers a full circle, making it perfect for a landscape or garden.
STEP 2 — Position the tubing route
- Unroll 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A) along the area you want to irrigate.
- Follow the mounting surface (pergola / terrace / balcony rail).
- Leave extra length for final adjustment.
- NOTE: Do not cut 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A) before the full route is placed.
STEP 3 — Cut tubing and install 1/4 Tee QC (B)
- NOTE: The kit includes 25 pcs of 1/4 Tee QC (B). Do not cut 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A) in more than 25 points (max. 25 emission points).
- Mark where you want the emitters.
- Recommended spacing between emitters: 11–23 inches.
- At each marked position:
- Cut 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A) clean and straight.
- Insert one 1/4 Tee QC (B) between the two cut ends.
- Push 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A) fully into 1/4 Tee QC (B) until firmly seated.
- Secure the route:
- Use 1/4 Drip Tubing Nails (M) to fix 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A) along the route.
- Use Zip Tie (L) to fasten 1/4 Tee QC (B) (and tubing) to the structure where needed.
STEP 4 — Close the end of the line with 1/4 End Plug (H)
- After installing the last 1/4 Tee QC (B), insert one 1/4 End Plug (H) into the outlet where the tubing would continue.
- Do not insert 1/4 End Plug (H) into 1/4 Drip Tubing- PE flexible (A).
- Do not insert 1/4 End Plug (H) into the opening intended for an emitter.
STEP 5 — Install the emitters (choose your emission head)
- Option 1: 1/4 - Goose Neck Emitter (D)
Install one 1/4 - Goose Neck Emitter (D) into each 1/4 Tee QC (B). - Make sure each 1/4 - Goose Neck Emitter (D) is fully seated.
- Aim 1/4 - Goose Neck Emitter (D) so the spray goes into the air toward the desired area.
- Option 2: 1/4 spray base nozzle (F) + 1/4 QC brass misters (E)
- Install one 1/4 spray base nozzle (F) into 1/4 Tee QC (B).
- Screw one 1/4 QC brass misters (E) onto 1/4 spray base nozzle (F).
- Aim the spray toward the desired area.
- If a spray base is not used, seal it with 1/4 spray base plug (G).
- NOTE: The kit includes 5 pcs of 1/4 End Plug (H). Use them to close a full line end, or to seal an emitter point later if you remove an emitter.
STEP 6 — Test the system
- Turn on the water slowly.
- Check all connections for leaks.
- Adjust the direction of each 1/4 - QC - Goose Neck Emitter (D).
- If spray is weak:
- Turn off water.
- Remove and clean filter screen (F).
- Turn water on and test again.
