Installation Steps
IMPORTANT steps to take before installation
Before installing, please make sure you have some form of filtration and pressure regulation installed on your water source.
Why is it important:
Filtration: without filtration, the couplings and emitters have small openings that can clog with debris or sediments.
Pressure regulation: pressure over 45 PSI can blow off the fittings and damage the micro irrigation system over time. You can find a wide variety of inexpensive pressure regulators on Amazon.com or at your local home improvement store.
Not all the included pieces need to be installed in one system. In order to offer you a fully customisable irrigation system, we included many more than enough pieces of each kind. Keep the leftover items like spare parts.
Naturally, the water pressure in the system drops a bit with every emitter installed. Depending on your water source pressure, you may install a greater or lesser number of emitters until the limit is reached and the water will stop flowing from some of the emitters. Normally, with a water pressure of 45 PSI, a system with a total number of either 20 360 Stream Emitters OR 12 Vortex Emitters should function without problems. Please feel free to experiment and create your unique combination of emitters in the system.
Technical Information:
The emitters are designed to work with a pressure of between 15 and 45 PSI. Maximum water volume delivered by a single emitter:
360 Stream
- 60 Gallons/hour at 45 PSI
- 55 Gallons/hour at 35 PSI
- 45 Gallons/hour at 20 PSI
Vortex
- 45 Gallons/hour at 45 PSI
- 35 Gallons/hour at 35 PSI
- 30 Gallons/hour at 20 PSI
Both emitter types have an adjustable range up to a diameter of 3-4 feet.
The 360 Stream Emitter delivers water in an array of streams, being ideal for shrubs and trees. The Vortex Emitter evenly covers a full circle, making it perfect for a landscape or garden.
Step 2 — Connect the soaker hose to the garden hose
- Important: Always assemble the hose coupler first (male and female parts together), and then attach your hoses. If you connect the hoses before assembling the coupler, the hoses can twist or kink during tightening.
- Assemble the coupler body
- Take a female coupler and a male coupler from one Hose Coupler Set (E) and screw the two center parts together until fully tightened. This creates the main body of your coupler.
Step 3 - Connect the garden hose (B)
- Slide the coupler lock-nut onto the garden hose.
- If you're using a female coupler end, double-check the teeth orientation (see Note in Step 1).
- Push the garden hose fully onto the coupler body.
- Screw the lock-nut onto the coupler to secure the hose.
Step 4 - Connect the soaker hose (A)
- Slide the coupler lock-nut onto the soaker hose.
- Same teeth check if you're using a female end.
- Push the soaker hose fully onto the coupler body — make sure it's all the way in.
- Screw the lock-nut on to secure it.
Tip: Make sure both hoses are inserted fully into the coupler before tightening the threaded rings. A proper fit prevents leaks and ensures even water flow.
Step 5 - Extend irrigation to additional zones (optional)
- Want to water multiple zones? You can! Cut and alternate sections of Soaker Hose (A) and Garden Hose (B), joining them with Hose Coupler Sets (E) in this pattern:
- Garden hose + soaker hose
- Soaker hose + garden hose
- Repeat the sequence until your entire irrigation area is covered. Use the garden hose sections wherever you don't need watering (for example, between plant beds or across walkways), and the soaker hose wherever you do.
Step 6 - Close the end of the irrigation line
- At the end of each line in the soaker hose system, install a male coupler from a Hose Coupler Set (E). Then connect an End Plug (F) to that male coupler to seal the line.
Step 7 - Secure the hoses and test the system
You're almost done!
- Use the Garden Staples (G) to secure both the garden hoses and soaker hoses in place along the ground.
- Adjust the hose position as needed to follow your irrigation layout and prevent movement once the water is on.
- Slowly turn on the faucet.
- Walk the line and check all hose couplers and connections for leaks.
- Make sure the soaker hose releases water evenly along its full length.
