24 December, 2021 by Ana
Whether you are a Christmas enthusiast, already getting ready for the big party, or you prefer celebrating your holidays in more quiet ways, we bet you still love to spend time with your loved ones. And, while we know the cold weather might keep you inside a lot, we also support winter outdoor activities, especially when you have a gorgeous garden at your door. So, today we want to share our favorite outdoor things to do around Christmas. Excited? Continue reading!
Grill or Smoke Your Christmas Food
A big part of this celebration is about family, friends, and food so, the best way to enjoy your garden around Christmas is to forget about the oven and grill or smoke your meal. You have plenty of delicious and fancy recipes to choose from and, if you make sure your garden is beautifully-lit and decorated, the patio is cozy, warm, and comfortable, you can throw a memorable outdoor Christmas party.
Whether you grill your food or choose to smoke something special, it’s your choice. You also have the option to upgrade your good ol’ grill, turning it into a real smoker without spending a fortune. The Carpathen Z-Smoker Pellet is our recommendation. Due to its high-quality, affordable price, fast installation, and user-friendliness, it makes the smoking process extremely easy, accessible, and enjoyable.
Build a Snowman
If your Christmas celebrations are filled with children and you are lucky enough to get some snow, building a snowman together is a fun way to enjoy your outdoor space. Whether you choose to do it while the food is cooking and your garden is full of jolly guests of all ages, or you want to play in the snow with your family, all you need is warm clothes and a positive attitude. Oh, and don’t forget to grab the mittens!
Once you complete your wintery creation, you can all indulge in hot cocoa and a delicious meal or one of our favorite smoked desserts. Oh, you’ll love them!
Enjoy a Scavenger Hunt
While playing in the snow and building snowmen are fun activities, especially for the little ones, you can have fun in the garden even if it’s not covered in whiteness. For instance, you can put together a scavenger hunt. There are plenty of ways to get creative with this, and if it is too cold, you can play half of the time inside.
Place different clues around the house and garden and let the players search for them together. The reward can be anything from sweet treats to gifts or messages from Santa. Imagine how much fun your family can have!
Tell Christmas Stories Around the Fire
We recently shared our ideas about making your garden cozy and fun, and one of our suggestions was an outdoor heater or a fire pit. While both are great ways to enhance the welcoming vibe and keep everybody warm, a fire pit creates a unique atmosphere. And, if you have one, use it as the relaxing spot for your family this Christmas Eve.
Gather around and tell each other stories while enjoying a hot cup of cocoa and, why not, a sweet treat. You can even go for milk and cookies and raise your glasses for Santa.
Surprise Your Kids with Their Favorite Camping Dessert
Whether they love marshmallows or prefer the more complex S’mores, your kids will have so much fun sweetening up in the garden, especially if they get to roast their own treats.
To organize this Christmassy camping surprise, make sure you have all the ingredients and all the kids excited. For their well-being, we advise using kid-friendly tools, like the Carpathen Campfire Roasting Sticks, which have natural wood handles, tip protectors for the kids' safety, and they come with a cute storage canvas pouch and a roasting guide. Pretty cool, right?
